Clarke Rogers

Hello, my name is Clarke Rogers, thanks for checking out my page. I'm Out of Bounds Snowboards' new Assistant Manager. Originally from Skippack, Pennsylvania (a small town about a half-hour west of Philly), I have been living in Killington for the last three years.  I got into snowboarding through skateboarding. Back in 1987 I saw one of the first Burton ads in Thrasher magazine, that featured Jake Burton blasting through some trees on a Burton Safari. When I saw that ad I knew I had to try snowboarding out. My friends and I immediately took our old skate decks, stapled straps to them, and rode them backwards (skateboards only had kick tails back then) down every hill we could find. That Christmas, my parents bought me my first "real" snowboard, a Black Snow Legend. It had no metal edges or sidecut or p-tex, but I was stoked.  Unfortunately, my local ski area, Spring Mountain, didn't allow us to snowboard on it yet so my friends and I went to all the good sledding hills near my house every time it snowed. We had so much fun, and I was hooked. Fortunately, the next winter, Spring Mountain let snowboarders on the slope three nights a week. I got a "better" snowboard (metal edges, p-tex, and sidecut) and hit the slopes. After getting beat-up by such unfamiliar things as lifts, and icy hard pack, I became a full blown  snowboarding addict.

Since then, snowboarding has been the most important thing in the world to me. Which is why I live at Killington now. Longest season in the east, and five mountains of fun. This season I got about 118 days, achieving my goal of riding more than 100 days every season that I live here. Pretty good for a guy who works 50 to 60 hours a week. Anyway thanks for checking out my section of the shop site. Also keep an eye out next season for a colum I am going to be writing for the Mt. Times. about all the little things I love about snowboarding, and some good tech tips for getting the right gear and setting it up properly.
